NC cavalcade 'stoned' in Ganderbal

Ganderbal: In Chief Minister’s Ganderbal constituency, youth tried to attack his cavalcade with stones near Beehama chowk when his motorcade was on way to Central Kashmir’s Kangan town.
Eyewitnesses said that National top brass including Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, NC Patron Dr Farooq Abdullah, Davinder Singh Rana and Dr Mehboob Beigh were on way to Kangan to address an election rally.

Reports said that as the CM cavalcade reached near Beehama Chowk in Ganderbal, youth appeared from narrow lanes and pelted stones on the cavalcade. However, police immediately swung into action and chased away the stone-pelters.

“Few youth tried to resort to stone-pelting, however, we sealed all the lanes and streets and the CM cavalcade passed off smoothly,” Station House Officer Ganderbal said adding that not a single vehicle was hit by stone.

Meanwhile, scores of youth raised pro-freedom and anti-National Conference slogans at Bakoora Ganderbal where Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Dr Farooq Abdullah were supposed to address an election rally. The duo did not turn up there and later on Forest and Environment Minister Mian Altaf addressed people. (CNS)
