Jammu - At least five people were arrested after they hurled petrol bombs at a Kashmir-bound truck in which two suffered burn injuries while one escaped unhurt on Jammu-Srinagar national highway in Udhampur district.

"A Kashmir-bound truck was attacked by a group of miscreants last night at around at 2345 hrs with bottles containing combustible material (petrol bomb) which were hurled on the vehicle JK03D-11 42 with three people on board, police sources here today said.

They said that the entire incident was recorded in the CCTV footage and one of attackers was arrested immediately by the policemen deployed on patrolling duty.

On a tip-off four more people involved in the incident were arrested.

The arrested were identified as Harish, Bal Bahadur, Sandoor Singh and Suneet Singh, all residents of Udhampur while hunt has been launched to nab all the five absconders.

Police have identified the injured as Showkat Ahmed, son of Ghulam Mohammad, resident of Anantnag and Zahid Ahmed, son of Ghulam Rasool, resident of Anantnag while Rameez Ahmed Bhat, escaped unhurt.

A case has been registered and investigations started into the case. - UNI
